Visa in Viet Nam 2026
Vietnam continues to modernize its immigration policies to foster tourism and international investment. For foreigners planning to visit, work, or live in the country, navigating the visa system requires an understanding of the three main pathways: visa exemptions, the streamlined e-visa, and specialized long-term visas.
Professional and Long-Term Residencies
Foreigners seeking more than just a visit—such as workers or investors—must look toward specialized visa categories that often lead to a Temporary Residence Card (TRC).
- Work Visas (LĐ1, LĐ2): These are mandatory for foreign employees. They require a valid work permit or an official exemption and are typically valid for up to two years.
- Investor Visas (ĐT1–ĐT4): These are tiered based on the amount of capital contributed to Vietnamese enterprises. While a small investor (ĐT4) may only get a 12-month visa, major investors (ĐT1) can secure residency for up to 10 years.
- Business Visas (DN1, DN2): Ideal for short-term professional engagements, such as attending conferences or setting up a commercial presence.
